Cicada outbreak and early summer flowers

So we are having an outbreak of the 13 yr cicadas. Some parts of town have few to none, while some areas, like our yard, is over run with them. They are super abundant (see photos), noisy, and dead ones are all over the yard. The dogs are eating their body weight in them too.

This is a couple iris's covered in cicadas

Trip to Vicksburg

Took a trip to Vicksburg with Betsy+kiddos to see Nana and Grandpa and met up with Grandpa Bob, Grandma Jane and Aunt Judy. We had a great visit and enjoyed seeing everyone.
At the Mardi Gras parade on Washington Street.
Bead stash following the parade
Mini photo shoot with SJ before church
photo shoot over.
Mama and her snuggler

And here's the photo shoot of the greats together:

You may have thought that it was hardest to get toddlers to look at the camera...wrong! The man in the blue sports coat doesn't look at the camera. Ha ha!
Sometimes you "cheese!"so hard, you can't keep your eyes open.
Boys+ Aunt Judy. JH is smiling so nicely for the camera...M is apparently over it.
And a shot of four generations. Great, huh?

Scott left for a man weekend with Andy when I got home. Here are a couple of nice shots of shorebirds in S. Georgia.
Plover hunkered down out of the wind
Black skimmers (cool beak, no?). The one in front has a radio tag with the antenna sticking out below his tail.

Birthday time

JH turned 5 this week! We can hardly believe that he's so old. His party was Saturday and we had a great time at the Allison Racetrack. Also, Happy birthday to Mom! We didn't see her as she was stuck in MS due to the Blizzard of 2011.
